Sandeep Kumar debuts in the VW German Scirocco Cup in wet conditions

Hockenheim, Germany: India´s 2012 VW Polo R Cup (Pro) Champion, A.Sandeep Kumar made a successful debut in the 2013 VW German Scirocco Cup in Hockenneim. Sandeep managed to clock 8th fastest in the pre season test and was expecting some good result in the season opener at Hockenheim but wet weather spoilt the chances for the young rookie. Sandeep, who is new to the European wet conditions, had never tested the Scirocco in the wet which made him qualify only 19th. 

In the race Sandeep got a good start and made up places but an incident with the car in front made him drop down the field and managed to finish 19th overall and 12th in the Junior Category. The race was won by former F1 driver  Nicola Larini who raced in the Legends category.     

Sandeep Kumar commented "Had qualified 19th in a wet qualifying. Found the conditions tricky and it was a hard session for me. In the race I had a good start, made 4 places but had to loose few immediately because the guy in front braked early . Later made 2 places up and a mistake followed by that made me to settle at 19th. But it´s a shame that I couldnt keep the places I made in the beginning of the race.Overall it was a great learning curve and alot to carry for the next race. Really looking forward to it."

The next round will take place in Spielberg, Austria on the 2nd of June.
